Thursday, 12 October 2017 () Actress Rose McGowan came out guns blazing against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein — along with Ben Affleck — this week on Twitter, but the “Scream” star was up in arms after her account was “temporarily limited” on Wednesday.
McGowan shared the suspension notification from Twitter on her Instagram page, saying “TWITTER HAS SUSPENDED ME. THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK. BE MY VOICE.”
But according to Twitter, it had nothing to do with the actress using the platform to call out Weinstein for sexual harassment or telling Affleck to “f— off.” Instead, the deactivation stemmed from McGowan sharing a private phone number.
“We have been in touch with Ms. McGowan’s team. We want to explain that her account was temporarily locked because one of her Tweets included a private phone number, which violates of our Terms of Service,” a Twitter spokesperson told TheWrap. “The tweet was removed and her account has been unlocked. We will be clearer about these policies and decisions in the future.”
McGowan’s account is back up and running, although her last share was a retweet from nearly 24 hours ago: “Men are being applauded for denouncing sexual assault now while women are being demonized for not reporting it sooner.”
