allegations mount against powerful men across the country -- several lawmakers say congress has a sexual harassment problem. today a house committee held a hearing about how to prevent it. fox 24's jessica smith shows us what came from the meeting -- and what the future looks like. in a hearing on tuesday, congresswomen barbara comstock and jackie speier accused sitting lawmakers of sexual harassnt. they shared the stories, but did not name names. rep. jackie speier (d-ca): perpetrators exposing their genitals, to victims having their private parts grabbed on the house floor. speier introduced a bill to require mandatory sexual harassment prevention training in the house. she's also pushing to overhaul the system for reporting harassment in congress. rep. jackie speier (d-ca): the present system may have been ok in the dark ages, it's not ok in the 21st century. jessica smith reporting: more than 1,500 former capitol hill affers have signed a letter asking congress to improve its sexual harassment policies. rep. susan brooks (r-in): there's been confusion around the process, confusion about where to report -- whether or not the process is too cumbersome. chair of the house ethics committee -- indiana congresswoman susan brooks -- also wants to see more traing. illinois congressman randy davis raised concerns female staffers could be held back, as a result of this debate. rep rodney davis (r- ill): some offices may just take a shortcut d not hire women as a way to avoid these issu. obviously that's not the right approach. but brooks said she's hopeful this will be a moment of real change. rep. susan brooks (r-in): raising the level of attention to this will cause individuals to think about their actions, their words, their jokes. in washington, i'm jessica smith. ((hilary)) tonight -- house republicans say they plan to vote on tax cuts by thursday. g-o-p leaders say the vote will help ensure tax reform is finished by the end of the year. senate minority leader, chuck schumer, says if republicans pass their tax plan -- new yorkers and americans everywhere will feel ripped off. schumer says that's because senate republicans want to eliminate all deductions for state and local taxes -- also known as "salt." ### sen. chuck schumer / (d) minority leer "19 to 20 million middl class people will see a significant increase in taxes" ((hilary)) the white house has insisted congress pass the entire tax bill before christmas. ### ((hilary)) new information tonight -- arkansas senator john boozman has given his opinion on the allegations against alabama republican senate candidate roy more. boozman says he should withdraw from the senate race. multiple women have come forward -- saying moore sexually harassed orbused them when they were minors. other g-o-p leaders like house speaker paul ryan and senate majority leader mitch mcconnell also say moore should step aside. arkansas senator tom cotton hasn't made a comment on the allegations.
