Occupy movement: International branch of the Occupy Wall Street movement that protests against social and economic inequality around the world
The Occupy movement, an international progressive, socio-political movement, expressed opposition to social and economic inequality and to the perceived lack of "real democracy" around the world. It aimed primarily to advance social and economic justice and new forms of democracy. The movement had many different scopes, since local groups often had different focuses, but it's prime concerns included how large corporations in their view control the world in a way that disproportionately benefited a minority, undermined democracy and caused instability. It formed part of what Manfred Steger called the "global justice movement".
