Galan Lithium’s preliminary field tests indicate lithium-bearing aquifer potential at Candelas Lithium Brine Project

Galan Lithium Ltd’s (ASX:GLN) preliminary test results indicate the potential for a lithium-bearing liquefier at the Candelas Lithium Brine Project southeast of the Hombre Muerto salar in Argentina. Drilling results have also been received including drill hole C-02-19 which encountered fractured basement at 632 metres and was completed to a total depth of 662 metres.     READ: Galan Lithium confirms high lithium grade at Candelas; second drill hole underway Galan managing director Juan Pablo Vargas de la Vega said much had been achieved to date in a short time frame. He said: “We are dealing with a unique geological setting for lithium brines and our knowledge of the region increases with the more work we do. “The lithium potential remains strong for Candelas as it does for our prospective western tenements at Hombre Muerto.” READ: Galan Lithium enters trading halt pending drilling update Preliminary field data from a 202-metre section in drill hole C-02-19 returned conductivity levels of about 90,000 milli Siemens per centimetre and specific gravity (SG) of about 1.045. These values are of a lower order than those recorded in C-01-19 but are still expected to return lithium values albeit at lower levels. The drill hole largely replicates the geology of the maiden drill hole including levels of potential porosity within a thick sequence of conglomerates. C-02-19 has a layer of ignimbrite to 167 metres below shallow alluvial cover. Lithium bearing brines It is the technical team’s view that brines were introduced at depth into the channel from the north with drill hole C-02-19 drilled into a hydrothermally affected area. Lithium-bearing brines lie around the base of the channel in interbedded breccia and conglomerates and infiltrate into fractured bedrock. Hydrothermal activity adjacent to C-02-19 may be diluting the aquifer at this location. Next steps Following drill hole C-02-19 a third hole, C-03-19, will also begin shortly. The company is compiling geological data from the previous two drill holes to re-calibrate the geophysical model. The location of the third drill hole is expected to be north of the current drill hole and south of C-01-19.
