Walkabout Resources Ltd turns to Namibia for lithium

Proactive Investors Friday, 19 August 2016
Walkabout Resources Ltd (ASX:WKT) will look to Namibia to add lithium to its graphite portfolio as it is ceasing any further work at its Tanzanian lithium tenements.

Assays from the sampled pegmatites within the Tanzanian prospects were below the cut-off target of 1.5%.

Walkabout will now turn its focus to its three pending applications in the Erongo district of Namibia.

Furthermore, the company has applied for an additional two exploration licenses in the Karas region in the south of Namibia.

This region is well endowed with lithium bearing pegmatites and is within the Northern Cape pegmatite belt.

The exposed pegmatites have been exploited for the past 45 years mainly for tantalum, beryl, spodumene, amblygonite, lepidolite and bismuth.

While the lithium grades did not result in Tanzania, it is positive to see Walkabout sticking to their strategy of not expending further funds on licences that do not hold significant promise.
