Justice Department appeals ruling in attempt to block massive AT&T–Time Warner merger
Thursday, 12 July 2018 The Justice Department will appeal a judge’s decision that allowed the merger between AT&T and Time Warner.
In court records released today, the agency said it plans to appeal the lower court’s ruling to the DC Circuit court of Appeals.
Last month’s decision against the Justice Department was a devastating rebuke of the Trump administration’s antitrust enforcement team, and allowed for the creation of a new telecom behemoth. The department previously said it would allow the merger to move ahead as it considered whether to appeal the ruling.
The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
