The Week in News: March 10th - March 16thby 👨‍💻 Graham Pierrepoint

Another week of world events has gone by, and this one has been particularly dramatic – and somewhat heart-breaking in places. Regardless, we’re here once again to give you a brief digest of the biggest stories that have rolled across our news filters over the past seven days – along with one or two moments you may have missed!

Professor Stephen Hawking Passes Away
One of the most revered physicists and minds of his generation, Professor Hawking sadly passed away earlier this week at the age of 76. The author of ‘A Brief History of Time’ had previously been given only a handful of years to live at the age of 22 – far outlasting medical opinion and going on to author and implement some of our most important – and fascinating – scientific theories. He will be enormously missed.

UK and Russia Relations Reach Fever Pitch
Following the poisoning of an ex-spy on British soil – which many assume to be linked to the Russian state – the UK has taken action by dispelling Russian diplomats from the country, and it seems that other European allies such as France and Germany have been willing to offer a joint statement in standing against the Kremlin. Quite what Russia will do in return, in the long run, remains to be seen – though some press outlets are already calling this week’s events as the kick-start to ‘Cold War II’.

Trump Looks to the Future
Meanwhile, in the US, President Donald Trump is remaining optimistic about the future. Not only has he been discussing his plans for a ‘Space Force’ to protect the black void above us – he’s also apparently chosen his campaign slogan for 2020, ‘Keep America Great’ – because, in his own words he’s ‘already’ made America ‘great’!

Full Avengers Infinity War Trailer Lands
It’s set to be one of the biggest Marvel movies of all time – and with just about all of the brand’s biggest heroes and villains set to appear in one story, the trailer that’s landed this week does more than enough to tantalize. Some outlets and blogs have been analyzing the teaser in huge detail – with some even suggesting that the biggest names in the Avengers squad could be looking at a less than pleasant exit. Will your favorite Avenger survive? Get ready to find out on April 27th!
