Trump Offers Insight - Why He Doesn't 'Believe' in Climate Changeby πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» Adam Yardley

With recent news that climate change and global warming remain to be very real threats to our planet indeed, there is still concern that there are some figureheads and nations out there who are failing to join in and take responsibility for helping to protect the environment around us. One such figure who continues to fall under such criticism is US President Donald Trump, whose anti-climate change stance has led to the US moving away from the Paris Climate Change Agreement as well as from a number of motions on home soil. This week, with environmental worries coming back into full focus, President Trump took to his podium to advise on why he feels climate change isn’t worth the worry.

“We have very high levels of intelligence, but we’re not necessarily such believers,” Trump advised The Washington Post, according to The Independent – referring to ‘people like himself’. “You look at our air and our water, and it’s right now at a record clean.”

“But when you look at China and you look at parts of Asia and when you look at South America, and when you look at many other places in this world, including – just many other places – the air is incredibly dirty.” Trump’s words come as it emerged that climate change would be hitting the US particularly hard by 2100, both economically and from a health standpoint – according to government reports.

“When you’re talking about an atmosphere, oceans are very small. And it blows over and it sails over,” The President continued. “I mean, we take thousands of tons of garbage off our beaches all the time that comes over from Asia. It just flows right down the Pacific, it flows, and we say where does this come from? And it takes many people to start off with.”

While Trump’s words may have given the world a little bit of an insight into why he feels climate change to be less of a concern than activists are making it out to be, many may be concerned about the bigger picture. Trump was also quick to dismiss recent climate reports.

“There is movement in the atmosphere. There’s no question. As to whether or not it’s manmade and whether or not the effects that you’re talking about are there, I don’t see it – not nearly like it is. Do we want clean water? Absolutely. Do we want clean air to breathe? Absolutely.”
