Police investigating deaths of two children in separate case

One man is in custody as police investigate the death of two children in separate cases.the first investigation began thursday on the 12- hundred block of gay street ... just east of downtown.then yesterday ... police began investigating a home on the 2- hundred block of west pontiac just south of downtown.people in that neighborhood tell fox 55's cody butler they no longer feel safe in their own home.

Emily bradford moved to fort wayne from out of state just three weeks ago.she says she noticed police was around a home on the 200 block of west pontiac street all day yesterday.today ... 19- year-old julio carrillo was arrested on neglect charges after his 2-month-old son died.

Court documents show the child was in carrillo's care while his girlfriend wasn't home.the documents say carrillo admitted he spanked the baby .... and he tripped while holding the baby and it hit it's head on the hardwood floor.the child's mother came home to find the child wasn't breathing right.court records show doctors said the child was bleeding in the brain and had a fractured skull.there was also tears in the child's rectum.bradford says she's surprised something like this could happen so close to home.

Many neighbors tell fox 55 off camera they no longer feel safe in their neighborhood.in fact ... bradford is thinking about moving back to georgia.

Police are also investigating the death of a 5-year-old on gay street.detectives aren't releasing much information about that case ... no one has been charged.neighbors there say they noticed police watching a home on the 12- hundred block since thursday.
