Still the Queen: Remembering DJ K-Swift 10 years later
Ten years ago, Khia Edgerton, best known as DJ K-Swift, was in her prime as 92Q’s most visible star and Baltimore’s undisputed “Club Queen.” The talented 29-year-old from Randallstown had revitalized Baltimore Club and was poised to bring Baltimore to the rest of the world in a major way.
But at a party she threw the weekend of Artscape in 2008, Edgerton died after a diving accident in her pool — a tragedy that sent shockwaves throughout the city and music communities from all over that had come to love Baltimore’s scene.
Saturday marks a decade later, and as family, friends, colleagues and fans reflect on Edgerton’s lasting impact, they still can’t help but wonder what could have been for the Club Queen.
