Pope Accepts Resignation of Two More Chilean Bishops Following Abuse Scandal

According to Reuters, the Vatican on Friday said that Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of two more Chilean bishops, in his latest move to confront a widening worldwide sexual abuse scandal.

With the latest resignations, the pope has removed the leadership of about 20 percent of the Latin American country’s dioceses.

With both resignations, Francis has appointed other bishops as commissioners, to run the dioceses until further notice.
