The Internet Will Split in Two: Predicts Eric Schmidt

That’s not the sound of your pants ripping - it’s the internet splitting in half!??It could happen, says former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.??See, according to CNBC, Schmidt predicts that within the next decade, there will be two distinct internets: one led by China and one by the United States.??He reportedly made the comments at a Village Global VC event.??Schmidt suggests that there could be a bifurcation of a Chinese led internet and an internet led by the United States.??He seems to think China is quite a powerhouse with leadership in products and services.??And that they have a different leadership with censorship, controls, etc.??But Google is reportedly developing “Project Dragonfly.”??That’s a censored version of its search engine that could appease authorities in China.??So are two internets better than one???Schmidt didn’t exactly give an opinion, he just said it’s likely that it’s going to happen.??
