Holiday Festivities Continue Despite Rain

Held holiday celebrations today.

Newswatch 12's mike duffy spent time in medford, central point, and grants pass talking to people who came out to share in the spirit of the season.

"it's beginning to look a lot like christmas in the mountains around the area, but in the valleys, it's mostly just wet out here.

Fortunately, that hasn't stopped local communities from getting in the holiday spirit."

"we've never cancelled this event.

We've had it in the snow.

We've had it in the rain, we've had it in the ice.

Like i said, it's very important to the community every year, so we do everything we can to make sure this even goes off."

Nikki peterson has been working hard to make sure everything goes off without a hitch during central point's community christmas event.

"what's different about central point is we like the small town feel.

We like everybody to get together, come on the streets, get to know your neighbor, get to know people you haven't met before, and just gather round the heater with some hot cocoa and gether round the christmas tree."

Over in medford, the winter lights festival was getting and we saw this and just decided to bring our girls and do something fun with them."

One of the most these events for all the community to get together and celebrate christmas.

It's just a great feeling to be around the community."

But the people of grants pass were not about to be outdone.

"merry christmas from sydney and jazmyn."

"so are you guys excited to be here tonight?

Some came for friends, some came for lights, some came for the cars.

Some were actually in the parade - like girl scout troup 10787.

And despite the wet weather...everyone left a litte more connected to their communities.

"and now it's definitely the holiday season.

In grants pass, mike duffy, newswatch 12."

This weekend is the 5th annual
