RIVER PLATE FANS ARRIVING STORY: River Plate and Boca Juniors fans touched down in Madrid on Sunday (December 9) morning ahead of the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
River Plate fans were singing as they walked through the arrivals hall at the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport.
The supporters flew on charter flights from Buenos Aires to get to the match which was only moved to Madrid last week.
More Boca Juniors fans were expected to arrive from Argentina later on Sunday morning.
The second leg of the final was scheduled for November 24 in Argentina but was postponed, then moved to Madrid, after several Boca players sustained injuries when rocks were thrown at their team bus as it arrived at River's Monumental stadium.
Spanish police said they were working with Argentine counterparts to identify and intercept any known troublemakers ahead of the South American club final showdown at Real Madrid's stadium.
The first leg, played at Boca's Bombonera stadium on November 11, ended 2-2.
