Washington Post Fact Checker Creates New 'Pinocchio' Rating For Lying Politicians

The Washington Post’s Fact Checker has created a new rating called the Bottomless Pinocchio to rate politicians who repeat a false claim so many times that they are engaging in campaigns of disinformation.??????The creator of the Bottomless Pinocchio, Glenn Kessler says in order to make that rating, a politician must have repeated the claim at least 20 times.??????He also says that the claim must also have been previously rated three or four pinocchios.??????According to Kessler’s rating system, one pinnochio can be looked at as “mostly true,” two is close to “half true,” three is “mostly false” and four is just a straight up lie.????Kessler says that most politicians quickly stop repeating a four-pinocchio claim, but Trump’s willingness to repeat false claims quote, “posed a unique challenge to fact checkers.”??????President Trump has already made 14 claims that rank as bottomless pinocchios, according to the Washington Post.??????Trump claimed 123 times that his tax cut was the biggest in history, he overstated the size of US trade deficits 117 times, and said the US economy has never been stronger 99 times.??????Other Trump claims that rank as bottomless pinocchios include saying the US has started building the wall, inflating our nato spending, and saying that the US has the loosest immigration laws in the world - thanks to democrats.??
