And the city is hoping developing along fort wayne's riverfront will help make more people downtown people.

Construction crews are working on phase one of the project ... which is promenade park.
Planning is still in the early stages for phases two and three.city planning director paul spoelhof says it is important to get the public's input as part of that process.
And surrounding communities 3 are looking at what fort wayne is doing so they can apply it to their towns.michael mikarewich serves on auburn's park board.
He is hoping the success at fort wayne's diamond in the rough will translate to growing success in the classic city.jane young hopes to see the growth continue.

Those will be held in different neighborhoods across the city.promenade park is scheduled to open june 21st.
