UK Lawmakers Will Back May If Brussels Agrees To Change Brexit
According to Reuters, British lawmakers are discussing an extension for Brexit if the prime minister can bring Brussels back to the negotiating table.
Brokered by MP Kit Malthouse, the compromise will provide Prime Minister Theresa May with more time to secure a withdrawal agreement that can pass parliament.
But PM May has a difficult task ahead as she prepares for meetings in Brussels.
Since May's Brexit plan was voted down by the British Parliament, officials with the EU have stated they are not willing to renegotiate the UK's withdrawal agreement.
But the Malthouse Compromise only seeks to alter the Northern Irish backstop, which has been a contentious part of the Brexit deal.
