Calves Rescued as Winter Storm Pummels Washington State
Farmers rescued several calves from blizzard conditions in Ephrata, Washington, on Saturday, February 9, as a winter storm continued to blanket much of the state.
Nick Cobb was among those farmers who drove out to check on the condition of their livestock as blizzard conditions persisted.
He found cattle huddling together, protecting themselves from the storm, but also found some young calves in trouble.
These images, shared by Cobb on Facebook on Saturday, show calves being warmed up inside a vehicle.
In a comment under the photos, Cobb wrote that one calf, seen covered in snow and ice, had been nicknamed Oreo and was being cared for.
“Others are in a barn hut with heat lamps and full bellies.
All are alive.
So far,” Cobb wrote.
Local media followed up with Cobb on Sunday, and reported that Oreo and the 10 or so other calves he picked up were in good condition.
