California officials closed roads near Donner Summit on Friday, February 15, amid fierce winds, blowing snow, and avalanche danger, according to the state’s Department of Transportation.In a video posted to the California Highway Patrol’s Facebook page, an officer with the Truckee division demonstrates why road conditions were hazardous.

Stepping out of his patrol vehicle, Sergeant Strecker is seen being immediately whipped by fierce winds and driving snow.
