In Washington state, residents may opt out of vaccinations for personal or philosophical reasons.

But Gizmodo reports that might change, after Gov.

Jay Inslee had to declare a state of emergency in January.

That's when 30 verified cases of measles in Clark County showed the majority of them were in unvaccinated children.

In the weeks since, that figure has nearly doubled to forty-seven cases.
