Girl uses robot to finish her homework

HARBIN, HEILONGJIANG — A teenager from China purchased a writing-robot to finish her homework during her vacation, reports Qianjiang Evening News.

During year's Lunar New Year celebrations, a teenaged-girl from China decided she wouldn't let homework get in the way of her holidays — by purchasing a US$120 robot to do her homework.

The girl's mother was surprised that her daughter had finished her homework in record time —and neatly on top of that.

Her surprise turned to outrage when she discovered the nifty device while she was cleaning her daughter's room.

The mother smashed the robot and angrily shared her experience on social media.

According to the South China Morning Post, the contraption is known as a 'copying robot', it comes with a robotic arm to which you attach a pen or pencil and its software allows you to write in all types of fonts.

Its main selling point though is that it can create very realistic handwritten text if the user inputs their own handwriting into a special app.

The user has to input 6,000 samples of different characters so the robot can learn them.

Chinese netizens were supportive of the young girl on Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter, some comparing her shortcut to them sticking pens together in a row to copy several words at once when they were in school.

Others said that teachers should make an effort in assigning more creative homework, not just forcing students to copy text over and over again.
