According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, despite continued shelling in the disputed Kashmir region, Pakistan returned a captured Indian pilot as the nuclear-armed neighbors attempted to scale back a confrontation that has prompted world powers to urge caution.

Indian officials reportedly confirmed that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman had been returned and said thathe would be taken for medical checks.
