Elizabeth Warren made an aggressive proposal on Friday that would aim to break up Silicon Valley tech giants such as Amazon, Google and Facebook.
Warren's plan would create new rules for certain tech companies that have $25 billion or more in annual revenue.
It would also force these companies to spin off aspects of their companies in order to get under that threshold.
That would mean breaking up Amazon's purchase of Whole Foods, or Facebook's ownership of Instagram and Whatsapp.
"What I believe is that to have more competition in the marketplace and to level the playing field a little bit for small businesses and entrepreneurs and startups, what we've got to do is take those platforms. You know how you order on Amazon or you do a search on Google?
And break them off from the additional businesses that they're running," Warren said.
According to CNN, Warren is expected to head to Long Island City on Friday evening to promote her new proposal.
That's notable because it's where Amazon was planning to build another one of its headquarters before backing out last month.
