Cyclone Trevor Lashes North Queensland Community

Tropical Cyclone Trevor made landfall in the town of Lockhart River, Queensland, on Tuesday night, March 19, according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).The category 3 cyclone hit the north Queensland community with wind gusts of up to 117 kilometres per hour, the BOM said.The BOM tweeted that, after moving through Lockhart River, the cyclone moved west across far north Queensland.

Queensland Fire and Emergency said heavy rainfall and gale force winds would continue to affect western parts of the far north Queensland peninsula on Wednesday night.This footage, released by Queensland Police, shows wild winds and rain, with trees torn from the ground.

There were no reports of serious injuries.
