Mueller sends Russia probe report to DOJ

U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller on Friday handed over a keenly awaited report on his investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 election, but it was not immediately known if the probe found that President Donald Trump committed any misdeeds.

**EDITORS PLEASE NOTE: THIS LATEST VERSION HAS BEEN UPDATED TO INCLUDE A LETTER FROM ATTORNEY GENERAL WILLIAM BARR ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIPT OF THE RUSSIA PROBE REPORT FROM MUELLER'S OFFICE** After a nearly-two-year investigation, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has turned over his highly-anticipated report to the Justice Department… …looking at Russia's role in the 2016 ELECTION and whether President Trump's campaign colluded with Moscow….

The findings - currently under wraps - will now be reviewed by Attorney General William Barr, who has the authority to determine exactly what gets shared with CONGRESS and the PUBLIC… During the probe, Mueller secured guilty pleas, convictions or indictments of 3 companies and 34 people - including Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.

But it was not immediately known if the probe found that Trump, himself, committed any misdeeds.

Russia has long denied interfering in the 2016 election…while Trump has frequently blasted the probe as a "witch hunt." TRUMP UPSOUND Now, with Mueller closing-up shop...the focus will shift to Barr- a Trump appointee who earlier this year-- said he would release as much of the report as possible…but stopped short of promising to release the entire document.

BARR SOT In March, the House of Representatives, in a 420-0 vote, called on Barr to release the full report.

As for Trump, he has said he doesn't mind what the public sees: Trump: "Let' see if it's fair…"
