Trump's Latest Tax Cuts Would Jeopardize Health Care for the Most Vulnerable Americans
According to former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, Trump’s latest budget is one of his cruelest proposals yet for several reasons.
First off, it would cut Medicaid by $1.5 trillion over the next decade.
“Trump’s budget would end Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act, preventing millions of Americans from accessing health care,” Reich explained.
It would also slash Medicaid by $845 billion over the next decade, which would threaten the health of seniors, and make $25 billion in cuts to Social Security over ten years, including cuts to disability insurance.
It would reduce the budget of the Environmental Protection Agency by more than 30%, weakening oversight of polluters and endangering the health and safety of Americans.
It would also create trillion-dollar deficits for the next four years, jeopardizing long-term investments in the things that Americans really need.
“Meanwhile Trump and his enablers plan to increase the defense budget, which will juice lucrative defense, but do little for the American people,” Reich explained.
“This administration’s unbridled cruelty and contempt for the wellbeing of Americans never ceases to amaze me.” Reich also said we must continue to fight against the damage Trump and his close confidants area doing to America.
