ROUGH CUT.

NO REPORTER NARRATION Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Monaco on Sunday (March 24), where he and his wife Peng Liyuan were welcomed by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene at the royal palace.

Xi and Peng offered gifts to the royal family, including toy pandas and a bicycle for four-year-old twin children Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

After Monaco, Xi travelled to nearby Beaulieu-sur-Mer on France's Cote d'Azur, where President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte hosted a dinner for the Chinese couple.

Paris and Beijing are expected to sign on Monday (March 25) a series of energy agreements including cooperation in nuclear power and aerospace.

Macron faces a delicate challenge of balancing concerns about Beijing's growing global reach and a desire to deepen EU-China cooperation.
