Austrian Anti-Immigration Activist Investigated for 2018 Donation From Person Named Tarrant
Martin Sellner, an anti-immigration activist and member of the Austrian Identitarian Movement, said on Monday, March 25, that he was under investigation by Austrian police as a result of a donation received in 2018 from a person named Tarrant. In a 15-minute video posted to YouTube, Sellner says a number of communication devices, including a computer and cellphone, had been seized by authorities.
Austria’s interior ministry confirmed to local media that Sellner was under investigation “on suspicion of involvement in a terrorist group.”In his video, Sellner says he noticed he had received an unusually large donation for a person with the surname Tarrant only a short time prior to the police search.
He says he thanked the person by email, and consulted with his lawyer, but the police raid occurred before he could inform authorities.
Sellner said he would give the amount donated to charity, and denied any connection to the Christchurch mosque attacks, the suspect in which was named as Brenton Harrison Tarrant.
