They say love wins, but with today’s battle lines drawn over politics, could party affiliation determine your faithfulness?????The Dailymail revealing a new General Social Survey... which finds nearly three quarters of us (74%) believe it’s “always wrong” to have sex outside of a marriage.????But the survey did find those willing to be a little more flexible with their marriage largely included Democrats, whites, and the rich.????65% of Democrats polled said they believe it is always wrong to cheat, which pales in comparison to the 86% of Republicans saying the same.
Diving deeper, 12% of democrats say cheating is sometimes wrong, just 4% for republicans.
Meanwhile, Independents are expectedly somewhere in between with 73% believing unfaithfulness is always wrong.????So are elephants more faithful than donkeys?
Sociologist Pepper Schwartz tells the DailyMail it’s not that they approve of cheating rather, “Democrats are more liberal in general - and less religiously based…” ????And the survey finds liberals are getting more liberal with this view, while Republicans appear to be getting more conservative.
But like Washington, words are one thing, actions, another.
Believing cheating is wrong doesn’t mean someone won’t do it, and vice versa.????So before sticking with just your base, how about we do something really naughty and reach across the aisle.
Bipartisanship is a beautiful thing.??
