Dems Criticize Trump Tweet About 9/11, Rep. Omar

Democrats from across the country are responding to a video President Donald Trump posted on Twitter Friday.

The video includes footage of the 9/11 attacks to criticize Rep.

Ilhan Omar.

The video in question splices together footage from the 9/11 attacks and comments from Omar's recent speech at the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

The president tweeted alongside the video, "We will never forget!" Speaking at the council last month, Omar said: "For far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen, and, frankly, I'm tired of it.

And every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it.

[The council] was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties."  Republicans have specifically criticized the "some people did something" line in her speech.

In response to President Trump's tweet, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said it's "wrong for the President, as Commander-in-Chief, to fan the flames to make anyone less safe." Rep.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that Omar's "life is in danger.

For our colleagues to be silent is to be complicit in the outright, dangerous targeting of a member of Congress.

We must speak out."  Earlier this month, a man was arrested and charged with threatening to murder Omar due to her religious beliefs.

Omar responded to the video on Saturday, saying in a tweet, "No one person — no matter how corrupt, inept, or vicious — can threaten my unwavering love for America." Additional reporting from Newsy affiliate  CNN .
