#MeToo Founder Says Movement Should Be Inclusive of All Identities While speaking at the Time 100 Summit on April 24, Tarana Burke explained the meaning of the #MeToo movement.

The #MeToo movement was founded by Burke in 2016 and empowered thousands of women to stand up against sexual harassment.

Burke went on to detail the importance of male participation, saying, “#MeToo is not a women’s movement.’ She believes it is essential that everyone is held accountable for their actions, including men who label themselves as “allies.” Tarana Burke, via ‘Time’ Burke also spoke about the necessary inclusion of indigenous women and minorities in the #MeToo movement.
