The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently revealed their newborn baby’s name, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
And with a lengthy name, there’s a lot of meaning behind it.
Sky News reports, the name Archie short for Archibald is of German origin and means Brave, Bold and Genuine.
Harrison is of aboriginal origin and means Son of Henry or in this case, Son of Harry.
And finally Mountbatten-Windsor is an homage to the respective surnames of grandparents Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, according to Elle.
Before 1917, members of the Royal Family did not have surnames but this was changed by King George the 5th who adopted the name Windsor.
The Daily Beast reports Archie is 7th in succession to the throne but is not an official prince.
He is expected to receive the title of Earl of Dumbarton instead of being called His Royal Highness.
