U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM PLAYER CARLI LLOYD SPEAKING TO REPORTERS AFTER 3-0 WIN OVER SOUTH AFRICA IN WORLD CUP WARM-UP MATCH 2.

(SOUNDBITE)(English) U.S. PLAYER CARLI LLOYD SAYING: "You know we're all excited, I think we're, you know we're ready to get over there, we've anticipated this, it's been four years so, we got two more games to fine tune some things before we get over there and you know we've got to take every minute and make sure that we get as much as we can out of it, I think that's the most important thing, but we've got another game against New Zealand and that's the focus now." 3.

U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM HEAD COACH JILL ELLIS SPEAKING AT NEWS CONFERENCE AFTER 3-0 WIN OVER SOUTH AFRICA 4.

(SOUNDBITE)(English) U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM HEAD COACH JILL ELLIS AFTER BEING ASKED ABOUT TEAM'S SLOW START IN MATCH, SAYING: "You know I think I'd be doing the players a disservice if I gave them an out because I think that they, you know they know and they recognize and that's what's awesome about them is that they have these standards and, you know, they knew that it needed to get better so I don't think it's fatigue, I don't think it's training, I just, you know, sometimes you just have to get into a game, and sometimes games, I mean heck, the World Cup games they don't always start perfectly, sometimes several games don't start perfectly, it's the ability of a team to, one, get better in a game, and grow in a game and, you know, so that's, sometimes teams, you start flying and you fade so I think we've just gotta be the team that's gotta be consistent in what we do, but I think yeah I wouldn't say it was anything other than we just needed to make sure, you know sometimes you play teams that present slightly different things, it does take a little bit of an adjustment, but I think the, you know I thought the quality obviously got better and there was a lot of good pictures, we got so many good takeaways from this game it was fantastic." STORY: Head coach Jill Ellis pronounced herself pleased after the United States earned a 3-0 win over South Africa in her squad's first match since naming the 23 player World Cup roster on May 1.

The U.S. got a goal in each half through Samantha Mewis and a late third score from substitute Carli Lloyd in their first Women's World Cup warm-up match in California.

The U.S. squad will next face New Zealand on May 16 in St.

Louis followed by a date with Mexico in New Jersey on May 26 before departing for France.
