Austrian Leader Steps Down After Video Leak

Reuters reports Austria’s vice chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache said on Saturday he plans to step down, following the release of scandalous video footage of him.

Strache, the longtime far-right leader of the Freedom Party, was shown in the footage meeting with a woman who posed as the niece of a Russian oligarch in 2017, shortly before the election that he won.

Strache described the release of the video as a “targeted political assassination.
