Smith confirms England place for ‘very special’ Jofra Archer

National selector Ed Smith has described Jofra Archer as a “very special player” after the fast bowler was given the nod ahead of David Willey to represent England in the ICC Cricket World Cup.

The Sussex paceman was named in the 15-man party this morning, after impressing in the recent series against Pakistan.

The 24-year-old is Barbados-born but has been able to be picked after three years in English cricket rather than seven after laws were changed.
