Authorities in the Dominican Republic say a second suspect has been arrested in the shooting of retired Red Sox star David Ortiz.
The man in custody is not believed to be the gunman.
Police added they are looking for a third suspect The first person arrested, Eddy Feliz Garcia, a suspected accomplice, is due to face a hearing late Wednesday.
Garcia was beaten by bystanders at the Santo Domingo nightclub where police say assailants shot Ortiz in the back.
Ortiz is recovering at Massachusetts General Hospital after being flown there on a medical air ambulance chartered by the Red Sox.
He reportedly took a few steps in his hospital room on Tuesday after undergoing a second surgery.
The baseball legend was first operated on in a hospital in his native Dominican Republic where doctors removed parts of his intestine, colon and gallbladder.
Known as "Big Papi," Ortiz is still a hero in Boston for his role in three World Series championships.
He retired from Major League Baseball in 2016 after 14 seasons with the Red Sox as the team's designated hitter and first baseman.
