Business Insider reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have resigned from The Royal Foundation, the charity which that ran with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Kensington Palace has confirmed the news on Thursday, although rumors of the split have been flying since May.
Their statement included "Later this year The Royal Foundation will become the principal charitable and philanthropic vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will establish their own new charitable foundation with transitional operating support from The Royal Foundation."
Although there was no reason from the palace on the split, Royal Correspondent Emily Andrews thinks that the brewing "rift" between the couples fueled the decision.
According to Andrews a source claims that things got bad between William and Harry last year, and they "didn't see each other for months."
Harry and Meghan also moved out of their Nottingham Cottage residence, which was close to William and Middleton's Kensington Palace home and are reportedly considering moving to Africa and taking a working sabbatical with baby Archie.
