Protesters Chant 'Free Hong Kong' at Protest Coinciding With G20 Summit

Hong Kong activists held protests in Admiralty district on June 28 designed to coincide with the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan.

They held up placards that included the phrase: “Free Hong Kong, Democracy Now.” The protests came after a tense month for Hong Kong that saw tens of thousands take to the city’s streets against a controversial bill that would allow for criminal suspects to be extradited to mainland China.

Appeals to the world’s leaders to “stand with Hong Kong at G20” appeared in newspapers across the globe on June 28, including the New York Times and The Guardian, Hong Kong Free Press reported.
