Women in History Celebrated by NYC Ticker Tape Parades

Congratulations to the 2019 FIFA World Cup champs!

They were celebrated on Wednesday with a ticker-tape parade in New York City.

Ticker-tape parades have been around for over 100 years, and have celebrated many events, including women.

From the Statue of Liberty dedication in 1886 to celebrating Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom in 1957, the ticker tape parade has had many influential women in its years.

New York City's streets become covered with people and tourists from all parts of city and around the world who come dressed in patriotic attire and bring customize signage to join in on the fun of the parade.

United States women's soccer team is the latest team to be celebrated in the ticker tape parade as they claimed their fourth World Cup title in a 2-0 victory over the Netherlands.

Before them, the winning squad from the 2015 FIFA World Cup is the only other women's sports team that has been honored with this type of parade.

Check out the video to see at which other women have been presented with such honor.
