A $27 million deck rehabilitation on the westbound span of the Bay Bridge will begin this fall, causing the right lane of the westbound side to be closed 24/7 from October 2019 to April 2020, repeating the closures in the fall of 2020 until the spring of 2021.

AND COMMUTERS AROUND THE BAYBRIDGE.

THE CONGESTIONS SEEMSTO HAVE INCREASED OVER THEPAST COUPLE OF YEARS...AND NOWA NEW PROBLEM MIGHT CONTRIBUTETO THAT.

THE STATE WILL CLOSEONE LANE DOWN FOR MORE THAN 6MONTHS AT A TIME.

We know the backupsare bad in the summer but, weget a break over the winter&.that all might change.

Nats:Track: Starting this Octoberthe right lane of thewestbound bridge will beclosed 24 hours a day untilApril 16th.

It27 million dollar project toimprove the bridge.

Sot: Well,it will probably be just likesummer all winter.

The trafficwill be just as bad all winteras we deal with all summer.Track: He may not be wrong.The State HighwayAdministration says they willnot open two way operations onthe Westbound bridge becausethey have to use concretebarriers and that shrinks thelane size down.

Even thoughthe work is on the west boundside it affects east boundtraffic because the third lanegoing east helps alleviateeastern shore bound backups.With the closures the statesays 3 mile backups may be areality for rush hour.

Sot:Itdown on us being able to seeour family a little bit or weare going to have to plan ourtrips a little better.Track:..and itfamily trips that will affectcommuters.

Sot: and of courseitfor work.

My husband does thatMonday through Friday.

I alsowork in Baltimore so when Itravel I go an hour intoBaltimore city.

Stand up:Commuters may not like thetraffic problems around thebridge and construction doesadd to those problems but,many do understand that itnecessary.

Track: The right laneclosure will run next Octoberthrough April as well.

Duringboth years they will take abreak over the Thanksgivingholiday.

The work will makerepairs on the right lane andreplace ailing lane markersand steel rail post.
