Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has emerged as the biggest beneficiary of Huawei Technologies Co Ltd's trouble in the second quarter with a nearly 7% jump in smartphone sales, as the Chinese firm sold fewer phones in the global market after it was put on a U.S. trade blacklist in May.
With emphasis on improved video and photography features, which helped Huawei become the world's No.2 smartphone vendor, Samsung hopes the Galaxy Note 10 will appeal to YouTubers and fans of social media.

China blamed the United Kingdom on Thursday for deteriorating ties after Prime Minister Boris Johnson slapped a 5G ban on Huawei, accusing London of poisoning the relationship by meddling in Hong Kong's affairs.

Disputes between the UK and China over Hong Kong, tech giant Huawei and humanrights abuses in Xinjiang have “seriously poisoned” relations between the twocountries, Beijing’s ambassador to London said. Liu Xiaoming said the UK wasat a “critical historical juncture” in how it wanted to treat China. In anonline press conference, Mr Liu said: “China respects UK sovereignty and hasnever interfered in the UK’s internal affairs. “It is important the UK will dothe same – namely, respect China’s sovereignty and stop interfering in HongKong’s affairs, which are China’s internal affairs, so as to avoid furtherdamage to the China-UK relationship.”

Indian government has received applications from 22 tech companies. Applicants include Samsung, Foxconn, Pegatron, Wistron etc. The firms have applied to expand production facilities in India. Foxconn, Pegatron, Wistron are contract manufacturers for Apple iPhones. The applications were made under govt's production-linked investment scheme. Samsung will introduce "five new power devices" at its upcoming online Unpacked event, revealed TM Roh, who is the President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. The event is scheduled to take place on August 5. In a blog post, Roh said that so much has changed since the last few months and in this "new era", they have a "special responsibility" to help society continue to move forward. "Since I took over the reins at Samsung Mobile six months ago, so much has changed... I consider this new era as the 'Next Normal' and technology - especially mobile technology - has a critical role in it. In just a few months, we've seen our lives change in unimaginable ways. Distance learning, athome fitness, online concerts, and so much more have all been enabled by mobile technology," Roh said. "As leaders of the tech industry, we have a special responsibility - and now a true sense of urgency - to help society continue to move forward. So many people are counting on us to give them new ways to communicate, new ways to work, and new ways to connect," he added. Roh further stated that the new devices will deliver the company's vision to be the innovator of new mobile experiences that flow "seamlessly and continuously". "At this summer's Galaxy Unpacked, we'll be introducing five new power devices. These devices deliver on our vision to be the innovator of new mobile experiences that flow seamlessly and continuously wherever we go. Samsung Electronics has announced that Apple Music on Samsung Smart TVs will now feature and display millions of real-time synced lyrics that animate along with the music. Users can easily scroll through a song by flipping through the lyrics, jump to a certain section, skip straight to the chorus or see where they are at in the song whenever they want. "Available on 2018 to 2020 Samsung Smart TV models, Apple Music time-synced lyrics make it easier and more fun than ever for users to sing or rap their hearts out to their favorite songs - or to discover the words of the latest hits," the company said in an official statement. The users can also search for a particular lyric, find the song, and learn the rest of the words simply by hitting play.
