That robbed a tractor supply with two guns... what's meant to be a place of worship - turned into a crime scene on sunday morning,,, the latest on the officer involved shooting in ripley - ahead thanks for joining us, i'm daranesha herron..... and i'm morgan burger.

Today is monday - august 12 / new this morning - the mississippi highway patrol is investigating a fatal wreck in union county.... corporal jason roe confirms the wreck happened last night (sunday) around 8 at the intersection of mississippi highway and ms 762 near ingomar... more information will be released later this morning... one man is dead after a shooting at a tippah county church sunday morning... we're told the mississippi burea of investigation is leading this case--- here's what we know right now... the "tippah county news rep0rts" that the tippah county south half constable keith bullock shot patrick sanders of dumas at the church of christ on highway four west in ripley.... the report says constable bullock was at the church when sanders pulled a knife and used it on him.... it says constable bullock was forced to shoot the attacker which killed him.... bullock was taken to a local hospital , where the report says, he was treated for minor injuries.... we talked with one woman who says she is a third cousin to bullock and has attended the west ripley church of christ.... she says the incident has shocked the community.... ."

The ripley police department had no comment... we've also reached out to the mississippi bureau of investigation and expect to hear more information on this incident sometime later today... happening now in columbus... an armed robbery at tractor supply company... it happened around 9-45 saturday night at the store on highway 45.... first responders say a black man with a bag over his head, wearing an orange hoodie went into the store with two guns... he left with money and some supplies... we are working to get more information from police... also in lowndes county... first responders say a deputy tried pulling someone over on steens vernon road... but the driver refused to stop and was going all over the road -- eventually they lost control... the driver was checked out medically before deputies took them to jail... and one person is recovering this morning after a wreck in columbus sent them to the hospital... according to law enforcement, the wreck happened shortly after 9 oclock saturday night on highway 45 northbound in front of walgreens near 18th avenue.... the accident involving two vehicles sent one person to the hospital.... columbus fire department and columbus police responded.... in monroe county, an investigation is now underway after man was shot to death - ad as of this morning - no arrests have been made police were called to the scene around 4 oclock friday morning ... we reported first as breaking news right here on wtva nine news today... this was on the southbound lane of highway 45 between wren and aberdeen.... causing one lane of traffic to close while agents collected evidence... coroner alan gurley said deputies found the body of 36 year old william elliot of caledonia shot to death when they arrived.... his body has been sent to pearl for an autopsy.... the mississippi bureau of investigation and the monroe county sheriff's department is handling the case at this time.... with kids heading back to school across the state -- state education officials are warning all students that a violent threat of any kind will not be tolerated.... every school has standard procedures and protocols in place to deal with the issue promptly.

And while many times the student making the post think its just for fun... law enforcement has to take every threat seriously.

Local school leaders continue to ask parents and drivers to show patience during these first weeks of school..

With kids back in class, that means school zones are much busier in the mornings and afternoons... especially now when parents are just learning the routines for loading and unloading... with that being said... throughout the school year, the highway patrol will monitoring school bus loading zones and conduct saturation patrols in order to stop any speeding and careless driving issues.

Troopers say drivers need to put away their distractions and pay attention when behind the wheel happening today.... fema and mema assessment teams will work to determine storm damage in the eagle lake area of warren county.

The water has now receded after months of flooding..

Volunteers will arrive today monday with cleaning kits, to help residents get their homes ready.

This is what the eagle lake area has looked like for the past four months or so... as waters from the mississippi river flooded into the area..

Most residents were forced out of the area back in march..

Some had to evacuate back in february.

Meanwhile farmers in the delta and many other areas of mississippi may be eligible for federal farm relief.

Secretary of the department of agriculture, sonny perdue, signed the disaster declaration this week for 45 counties in the state.

This is for crop disaster money and low interest farm loans.

The mississippi state executive director of the farm service agency requested the declaration.... the u-s-d-a declaration covers losses caused by excessive rainfall, flooding, and flash flooding that started on january 15th through have 8 months to apply for emergency loans.
