Can Trump's Base Save Him In 2020?

President Donald Trump is heading into the 2020 race with white Evangelical christians firmly on his side.

But, what about the rest of his base?

According to CNN, Trump's base may not be able to reelect him.

Trump has a 44% approval rating and 52% disapproval rating among voters.

On the economy, it's been the inverse: 53% approval and 42% disapproval.

If the race was about Trump's overall performance he would be an underdog.

His base, which makes up just 44% of the vote, is not enough to save him from a 2020 defeat.

Trump would win if he swayed the 9% of voters who like him on the economy but not overall.
