Trump Is Reportedly Considering Buying Greenland

Trump Is Reportedly Considering Buying Greenland Greenland is the world's biggest island.

President Donald Trump has reportedly asked his White House counsel to research the possibility of purchasing it for his legacy.

At a dinner last spring, Trump reportedly asked the room, "What do you guys think about that?

Do you think [buying Greenland] would work?" Advisors have instructed the president about the autonomous Danish territory's geopolitical importance and its vast resources.

Danish subsides account for nearly 60% of the territory's annual budget.

The U.S. military has almost unlimited rights at the Thule Air Base, located in the northern part of the territory.

Under President Harry Truman, Denmark refused to sell the territory to the U.S. The Greenland Premier Kim Kielsen responded to the rumors.
