Clean Up Underway After Cyclone Trevor Batters Queensland Town
Emergency service crews and residents in the Far North Queensland community of Lockhart River continued their clean up work on March 20 after Cyclone Trevor ripped through the area a day earlier, knocking out power and destroying structures.
This video, filmed by local man Enoch Perazim and uploaded to Facebook on March 20, shows damage done to a local Indigenous arts centre.
The clip shows trees toppled over onto a car and a building, as well as rubble strewn across the ground.
The clean up progress was hampered by rain, Perazim told Storyful.
“We are progressing well with [the] clean but stop when we have rain.
We still have lots of rain though.” After passing through Far North Queensland, Cyclone Trevor tracked west across the Gulf of Carpentaria and was expected to hit the Northern Territory as a category 4 cyclone on March 23, the Bureau of Meteorology said in a tweet.
