Collin Daniel Richards showed no emotion as he entered a Nevada, Iowa courtroom Friday, to hear his sentence for the murder of golfing star Barquin Arozamena "The legislature has determined the only possible sentence for murder in the first degree is life in prison without the possibilty of parole." Richards pleaded guilty to the murder at a court hearing in June.

On September 17, 2018, the Iowa State University golf star's body was found in a pond by the ninth hole of an Ames golf course.

According to police, "She had been stabbed in the upper torso, head and neck." "It could have been my daughter" Harley Thornton and his golfing partners had just let Arozamena play through.

Police were called when the men found her cart abandoned.

Her body was discovered a short time later.

Prosecutiors say Richards was found nearby, looking like he'd been in a fight.

Christie Martins, the golf coach at Iowa State said Arozamena had a bright future, working towards joining the LPGA "She just had this great, um light about her, just will to really, um to be something special and she cared so much about others." At his sentencing hearing, Richards told the court, he wants the family to know he now feels remorse and that he is sorry.
