REPEAT OF SHOT 1 STORY: Boxes full of squirrels landed in a treatment room of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue's facility after the strong winds from Hurricane Dorian left them injured and orphaned on Sunday (September 8) in Indian Trail, North Carolina, United States.

The organization triaged all of the squirrels and distributed them to other local wildlife rehabilitation centers since they anticipate receiving more from the coast this week.

"We had teams of people along the coast waiting for a hurricane to hit because we knew there would be a lot of displaced animals.

We networked with local rescues as well as veterinarians offices and wildlife rehabbers.

There are several species of wildlife that are still having babies this time of year and the nests in the trees often come down," the Rescue team told Reuters.
