Maryland-based biotechnology company, Novavax, said on Tuesday its experimental COVID-19 vaccine produced antibodies against the novel coronavirus and appears to be safe, according to an early-stage study. President of Research and Development, Dr. Gregory Glenn told Reuters the experimental vaccine “looked good in animals. Now it looks really good in people."
The school attended by President Donald Trump and Melania Trump's youngest son, Barron, has ended on-campus learning. The news comes as the president demands a return to in-person classes around the country. On Friday, CNN reports Montgomery County, Maryland, ordered that private schools not conduct in-person learning until October 1st. Barron Trump is slated to enter 9th grade in the fall. Reuters US stocks closed down on Tuesday as investors mulled Senate Republicans' coronavirus stimulus package and a slew of earnings reports. The GOP continued negotiations on its initial fiscal relief plan throughout the day. The $1 trillion package includes another round of $1,200 payments and additional funds for small-business loans. Experts expect a long negotiation period as Republicans and Democrats spar over their respective proposals.
Joe Arpaio is the outspoken, controversial, and former sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona. And according to CNN, he will remain a former sheriff, thanks to Tuesday's Republican primary for the post. Arpaio lost his shot at getting his job back to his former chief deputy Jerry Sheridan by about 6,000 votes. In 2017, Arpaio was found guilty of criminal contempt for ignoring a court order in a racial profiling case.

The Trump administration will not accept new applications for one Obama-era program. The program shields deportation for certain undocumented immigrants, reports CNN. It applies mostly to those who came to the US as children and limits renewals to one year. This comes more than a month after the Supreme Court blocked Trump's attempt to end DACA. DACA, or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, has been a hot topic for months.
