Jessica bailey- columbus resident jessica bailey said zachary's is her favorite place to eat in columbus.
A columbus native, she eats lunch here all the time.
So when she heard the restaurant opened back up, she took the opportunity to place her order.
((sot)) "it's been months since we ate here, so as soon as they opened up this is where we came.
We waited 25 minutes to get a table...i would've waited an hour."
Jessica bailey- columbus resident 0:18:15-0:24 jessica remembered the moments she heard zachary's caught on fire.
"it was terrible, i was devastated.
" zachary's engulfed in flames in april.
The columbus fire department deemed the restaurant a total loss from the heavy smoke and water damage.
But restaurant owner, doug pellum, said it wasn't a total loss.
At least- not for him or his employees.
((sot)) "it has been the most unbelievable amount of business and experience that you can imagine.
Just thrilled with what's happening right now."
Doug pellum- zachary's owner 0:50:04-0:53:26 workers rebuilt the restaurant for months... adding a new deck and an extended patio that seats 60 extra people.
The inside has a brand new kitchen and a new prep table.
Pellum said without the community's support this wouldn't be possible.
"the community is repaying us."
The restaurant is participating in fundraisers and events in the coming weeks.
The first being the taste of columbus and the hayden 3 fundraiser.
