Man arrested after shootingat his own car that was stolen

BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA — Police arrested a man after he chased down his car that had been stolen and squeezed off a few at the fleeing thief.

37-year-old Paul Clark, was warming up his car outside his apartment Monday morning, but when he looked out of his window he saw his 2004 Chrysler 300 being stolen.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m with local police saying Clark then armed himself and grabbed the keys to his girlfriend's SUV.

Clark tracked the thief down to the Marathon gas station at East Winslow Road and South Walnut Street.

Citing Bloomington Police Department Captain Ryan Pedigo, Fox59 says Clark took aim and popped off 13 shots at the suspect before the criminal managed to flee once again.

Police later found the stolen Chrysler abandoned at a nearby apartment complex, they say, there was no blood inside and unfortunately, they didn't find the thief.

Several calls about the commotion alerted the cops to the Marathon station where officers recovered 13 shell casings.

Police later arrested Clark on charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, pointing a firearm and carrying a handgun without a license.

Captain Ryan Pedigo warns that Clark taking the law into his own hands could not have only seriously injured civilians but could have killed someone.
